Senate Republicans hope to hear from Loretta Lynch after former FBI Director James Comey made it known in his testimony two weeks ago that the former Attorney General made concerning comments in reference to the Clinton investigation, per The Hill.
No. 2 Senate Republican John Cornyn (R-TX) said it “would be very helpful” if Lynch testifies before the Judiciary Committee.
Check it out:
Frankly, a lot of what Hillary Clinton was exposed to by Director Comey’s misconduct and the way he handled that was apparently in response to his lack of confidence in the attorney general, and I think there is a lot we could learn from that,” Cornyn said.
Sen. Lindsey Graham expressed similar sentiments:
“The accusations now that … the current and former attorney general were political — that has nothing to do with Russia as much as it has to do with how the Department of Justice is being run,” he said. “I want to find out all about that.”
A spokesman for Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley said staff must gather evidence, nevertheless it’s “likely” a hearing with Lynch will “become necessary.”President Trump weighed in with a tweet:
Lynch has long been a subject of scrutiny for Republicans, but she became a character of special interest following her infamous tarmac meeting with former President Bill Clinton in the midst of the investigation in to Hillary Clinton’s private server. “A.G. Lynch made law enforcement decisions for political purposes…gave Hillary Clinton a free pass and protection. Totally illegal!” Trump tweeted this week.
