President Obama made it clear over the past 8 years that American energy independence was not a priority of his. In fact, you could argue he did everything he possibly could to make sure we remain dependent on oil from places that deny basic human rights.
Despite Obama’s best efforts, an energy boom on private lands created hundreds of thousands of jobs.
However, ideology came before the economy on two major occasions during the Obama presidency and those jobs never became an important opportunity despite our economy being stuck in the worst recovery since World War II.
He stopped two large pipelines from being built. First, the Keystone XL pipeline and then the Dakota Access pipeline.
President Obama is no longer in office as of Friday and it looks like Donald Trump is primed and ready to make a huge move when it comes to oil and gas in this country.
Specifically, on the previously mentioned pipelines.
From Fox News:
President Trump plans to sign executive orders reviving the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines, which had been stalled under the Obama administration, sources tell Fox News.
The moves had been widely expected, as Trump blasted his predecessor for effectively blocking the projects amid environmental and other concerns.
It is important to keep in mind that these pipelines do not pose the kind of threat to the environment that the left has been telling us. In fact, Obama’s own State Department told him that Keystone was safe to build.
This was about political ideology from the very start and it looks very likely that Donald Trump is going to put energy independence and the livelihood of the American worker before politics.
That’s something we should all be able to get behind.
