…so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.

1 Corinthians 2:5

This verse applies to every cultural challenge today. Thank God He knows us so  well that He kept His instructions simple so there’d be no question: every single solution we seek is explained there in black and white, in His Word.

My nephew-in-law is a literal giant of a young man, a rugged, handsome former USC offensive lineman. We call him “Thor.” He sent me this verse after we discussed man’s “wisdom” always being used to justify sin. It is the wisdom of man that tells us to just accept worldliness, political corruption, selfishness…insert here your own observations. Within man is a God-shaped hole. If we fill it with our own superficial understandings instead of the life-changing wisdom and power of the Holy Spirit, we’ll live in confusion and hopelessness.

Sweet Freedom in Action

Today, put your faith in God’s wisdom. Read His Word in Holy Scripture. Practice His tenets in your life. Worship Him and give Him thanks in prayer at home and at church. It takes a humble bow to Christ to acknowledge need of His wisdom in place of our own, but if the mighty “Thor” can take a knee for the Lord, you can too.
