I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts.
As Americans, we have been given a great gift of freedom, and God’s Word makes clear that He expects us to steward our gift well.
Our Founders understood this responsibility. Out of service to their fellow Americans, thousands of men now long-forgotten charged the cannons ran into bayonets, suffered in the trenches, and gave their lives so that we could live freely. We can’t squander what they gave us or what the next generation expects from us.
President Ronald Reagan said: “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”
Our Founders called us the “heirs of freedom,” and as such we have a duty to those who have already paid the price for us to live in freedom, and we have a duty to those who will come after us.
