Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.
We’ve all had sleepless nights worrying about what the next day will bring. Will our country be safe? Will our kids grow up to know God? Will I be a good enough wife, mom, daughter, friend, governor, candidate, patriot? Will the cultural trajectory of this world turn around?
These worries are legitimate, but worry is just practicing doubt.
I treasure the moments my kids come home, curl up by me, and tell me about their hard days or what they’re concerned about. What a joy it is as a mother to have our children ask for your advice and assistance.
This is what our Heavenly Father desires of us. His Word says He’s delighted when we come to Him with our worries and problems. It should be comforting to imagine God putting His big arm around your shoulder, inviting you to share what’s weighing you down. As much as we appreciate our relationships with family and friends, we – I, anyway – really have no one with the capacity to calm fears and point us perfectly in the right direction. Why not take Him up on the offer to lean on Him? He’s “the One” with the power over our worries in the first place.
Sweet Freedom in Action
Today, when you pray, put yourself in God’s arms, curl up, and let go.
