Obama White House National Security Advisor Susan Rice admitted to “unmasking” individuals in connection with the Trump operation, according to DailyMail.

Rice told Congressional investigators that she unmasked the names of participants in a meeting with the prince of the United Arab Emirates.

Rice told members of the House Intelligence Committee last week that she requested names of Americans – usually blacked out in intelligence reports – to be revealed, after the UAE’s crown prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan arrived in New York last December without notifying the US government.

The non-disclosure, which is customary, sparked interest in the meeting.

The crown prince had met with Trump officials including the president’s ex-National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, his son-in-law Jared Kushner and another now-former White House official, Steve Bannon, sources told CNN.

The effort preceded the UAE trying to set up a backchannel between Russia and the incoming Trump administration.

A person described by CNN as a “senior Middle East official” said the meeting at Trump Tower was meant to build relationship with the incoming administration.

‘The meeting was about ascertaining the Trump team’s view of the region and sharing the UAE’s view of the region and what the US role should be,’ the official told CNN. ‘No one was coming in to sell anything or arrange anything.’

Rice was criticized for “unmasking” individuals caught up in surveillance reports towards the end of the Obama administration.
