Scalise Throws First Pitch, But Jaws DROPPED When People Saw Who Caught It

Congressman Steve Scalise was tragically shot in June when a gunman opened fire on a Republican baseball practice ahead of their congressional baseball game.

Critically wounded, Scalise spent several weeks in the hospital, but returned to Congress last week.

Ahead of the Washington Nationals versus Chicago Cubs playoff game, Scalise was honored to throw the first pitch.

The cheerful moment got just a little better when people realized who it was that was catching Scalise’s pitch, per Independent Journal Review:

While he was amazingly well enough to be able to throw the baseball, it was who caught it that made the moment so much more meaningful.

Capitol Police Officer David Bailey was the person who caught the baseball at home plate. Bailey was one of the two officers that were on Scalise’s protective detail on the morning he was shot in June.
