President Donald Trump had what appears to be a pretty successful time in China during his 12-day Asian trip.
He received a couple of nice honors, being greeted by cheering children with Chinese and American flags. And for the first time, a President of the United States was recognized with a state dinner in the Forbidden City.
The Chinese pulled out all stops to try to improve the relationship from what it had been under former President Barack Obama.
And Trump walked away with what looks like some very positive developments walking away with $250 billion in deals for American businesses and American jobs.
But with those significant things, perhaps it was a simple small thing that captivated the Chinese the most.
And that was President Donald Trump’s granddaughter, perhaps the smallest and most enchanting ambassador.
During Trump’s visit to China on Wednesday, the president did what most proud grandparents do — he shared pictures of his grandchildren.
Trump wowed Chinese President Xi Jinping with one particular video of his granddaughter, Arabella Kushner, 6, singing in Mandarin and reciting classical Chinese poetry.
Xi complimented Kushner’s performance and said it deserved an “A+”, Chinese state media China Daily reported.
But that wasn’t the first time the Chinese had seen Arabella’s talents.
As Xi noted, Arabella is already considered a star in China because of her facility for Chinese.
Arabella had performed before Xi and his wife before when they visited the United States in September when she also sang and recited Chinese poetry.

She also has a video from February which has gone viral in China and has been viewed over a million times.
Ivanka Trump has said that Arabella has been studying Mandarin Chinese for several years and clearly, the lessons are paying off.
For the Chinese, something like that indicates the desire to reach out to them, so they view it as no small thing.
The Chinese news outlet The Global Times recognized that, calling it Trump’s “granddaughter diplomacy,” showing the family’s acceptance of the value of Chinese culture.
It seems to have worked wonders and hopefully the relationship bears even more fruit.
With the dangers presented by North Korea, every small bit of leverage with the Chinese can be a helpful thing.Note: The author of this article has included commentary that expresses an opinion and analysis of the facts.
