Earlier today, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders requested that members of the White House press corps name a few things they are thankful for before asking her a question.
The gesture was started by Sanders and repeated by many of the reporters.
She started, “I want to share a few things that I’m thankful for and I think it would be nice for you guys to do so as well before asking your questions. Obviously you know, and it’s no secret, that I’m clearly very thankful for all of you here in the room. I think that goes without saying.”
She continued, “But in all seriousness, I’m very thankful for my family, my faith, particularly thankful for the brave men and women of the military, many of whom are away from their families during the holidays protecting the freedoms that all of us in this room and across this country enjoy.”
And, “I’m thankful for the police, the firemen and first responders who keep us safe here at home. And I’m certainly thankful for the incredible privilege of serving this president and the American people.”
Several others contributed, saying they were thankful for their families, their health, their universities, and the First Amendment.
Some liberals on Twitter however hated the show of gratefulness, via the Daily Caller:

I'm thankful that by 2020, you, Trump and his entire regime will be replaced and part of the ash heap of history, Sarah.
Anyway, you were saying? https://t.co/qeE8tiEWEY

I am thankful for the freedom of the press, a freedom which you retain whether or not you answer this ridiculous question.

I wouldn't agree to start off with a thankful-for but if forced I seriously would be like "I am thankful for knowing how to correctly apply eyeshadow such that I don't look like I'm wearing Elastigirl's mask" https://t.co/vgWO5MsjTy

I'm thankful I don't have to say what I'm thankful for before I ask a question.

Before reporters can ask a question at the WH press briefing, Huckabee Sanders is making them say what they're thankful for. Bizarre.
