FEMA Director Brock Long pulled no punches when he appeared on CNN and criticized mainstream media coverage of the recovery effort in Puerto Rico.
Unfortunately, mainstream media outlets have politicized the tragedy, often criticizing President Donald Trump’s handling of the situation.
Per Independent Journal Review:
“I’ve heard lawmakers say it’s time for a 3-star, 4-star general to come in to take over because this response needs to be coordinated at that level,” CNN anchor Kate Bolduan said. “Do you think it’s time for that?”
Long replied by rattling off what has been done so far and who has been directing the efforts to help Puerto Rico.
“A sustainment force of DoD was deployed several days ago,” Long replied. “There are things coming in.”
“There was a press conference held this morning in Puerto Rico with General Kim, Admiral Hughes, my staff, and the governor to talk about jointly where we are versus where we need to be,” he added. “That was not picked up by major media networks across the country this morning.”
“Those press conferences are occurring on a regular basis from now going on to make sure that we’re putting out enough information about where we are versus where we need to be,” Long continued. “Those press conferences need to be picked up by the major news media networks.”
CNN has previously hosted Puerto Rico’s Governor who was complimentary of Long, FEMA, and President Donald Trump (per the Daily Caller):
“I have to say that the administration has responded to our petitions. FEMA, Brock Long, has been on the phone virtually all the time with me, checking out how things are going,” Rosello told CNN’s Chris Cuomo.
“Within the limitations, everyone has all hands on deck,” he said.
All military branches and hundreds of personnel have contributed to the island’s relief effort:
