Happening! Look What Trump Just Said To Democrats About Constructing A Southern Border Wall

President Donald Trump just made one thing clear to Democrats: he is getting his campaign-promised border wall.

After months of deliberations, Democrats are still calling on the President to provide a path to citizenship for millions of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) immigrants currently in limbo within the country.

The effort has some bipartisan support in Congress and Trump has previously expressed sympathy for those DACA immigrants requesting citizenship.

Although Trump seems willing to negotiate, he clarified any deal will include funding for the construction of a southern border wall.

He tweeted, “Democrats have been told, and fully understand, that there can be no DACA without the desperately needed WALL at the Southern Border.”

He also said that Congress should provide “an END to the horrible Chain Migration & ridiculous Lottery System of Immigration etc. We must protect our Country at all cost!”

Per Washington Examiner:

During the last months of 2017, Trump has vehemently pushed for an end to the “Diversity Visa Lottery Program” and “chain migration” after multiple terror attacks in New York City were performed by individuals who were able to enter the country through those programs.

Trump is in favor of a merit-based immigration program that would use a point system to determine who can immigrate in the country.

Here’s more:

In September, Trump ended an Obama-era program known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, that allowed roughly 800,000 immigrants who came here illegally as children to remain in the country, which had never been approved by Congress.

Since then, Republicans and Democrats have been working to find some sort of legislative “fix” that would prevent all of the immigrants from being deported, but they left town earlier this month without including a DACA deal in a short-term government funding measure. Trump and Republicans have insisted on funding for a wall, but that has been a nonstarter with Democrats.

The Daily Caller adds:

Trump ended the Obama-era executive action, otherwise known as DACA, in September telling Congress it had six months to codify the program into law before protections expired. Obama’s DACA program issued work permits to illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children and granted them certain protections from deportation. There are approximately 700,000 DACA recipients in the U.S.

Democrats have been reluctant to give any concessions whatsoever on DACA, saying the program should be passed through both chambers without any concessions on Republican immigration priorities. Trump’s tweet indicates he will not allow a “clean DACA” bill and will insist that provisions to fund his southern border wall and reform the legal immigration system must be included.
