LA Times columnist David Horsey was forced to apologize this week after he labeled Sarah Huckabee Sanders as a “slightly chunky soccer mom,” according to BizPacReview.
But there’s a problem…
Despite removing the comment from the column online, however, a cartoon depicting Sanders still features the caption “Big Mother…”
Check it out:
“I want to apologize to Times readers — and to Sarah Huckabee Sanders — for a description that was insensitive and failed to meet the standards of our newspaper,” Horsey wrote, after removing the offensive description.
Horsey began the piece by noting that Sanders “does not look like the kind of woman Donald Trump would choose as his chief spokesperson.”
“Much like Roger Ailes when he was stocking the Fox News lineup with blond Barbie dolls in short, tight skirts, the president has generally exhibited a preference for sleek beauties with long legs and stiletto heels to represent his interests and act as his arm candy,” Horsey wrote.
“Trump’s daughter Ivanka and wife Melania are the apotheosis of this type,” he added. “By comparison, Sanders looks more like a slightly chunky soccer mom who organizes snacks for the kids’ games.”
But the cartoon remains in place:
Social media users were less than thrilled, to say the least…

Ah, yes. Elitist, mom-mocking, fat-shaming lib cartoonist @davidhorsey formerly of the Seattle P-I. Knew him & his ilk too well during my Emerald City tour of duty. This is the kind of progressive journalist who wins multiple Pulitzer Prizes. Pat yourselves on the back==> https://t.co/BDiWTkJIsD
