Life In North Korea’s Capital Just Got Unimaginably Worse After Kim Jong-Un Makes Major Ban

According to a report by a South Korean spy agency, North Korean Dictator Kim Jong-Un just banned all things fun or celebratory in the country’s capital.

Per the Daily Caller:

North Korea “has banned any gatherings related to drinking, singing and other entertainment,” the NIS, South Korea’s spy agency, revealed during a parliamentary briefing Monday, according to Yonhap News Agency.

South Korean intelligence officials suspect the ban may be an attempt by North Korean authorities to reduce the negative impact of sanctions, which the United Nations imposed on the regime for its repeated nuclear and ballistic missile tests.

And:

North Korea is regarded as one of the most repressive countries in the world today, according to Freedom House, an independent watchdog. “Surveillance is pervasive, arbitrary arrests and detention are common, and punishments for political offenses are severe,” the organization explains. If NIS reports are accurate, it appears that the situation is worsening.

The NIS reports that North Korea is also “strengthening control of outside information” and tightening its grip on society.

Besides scrutinizing its citizenry, the North Korean government is also vehemently combing its military personnel for “impure” attitudes.

Reuters reports two military servicemen have also been penalized for allegedly “taking issue” with Kim’s “leadership”:

Pyongyang is also carrying out a sweeping ideological scrutiny of the political unit of the military for the first time in 20 years, according to Kim Byung-kee, another lawmaker in the committee.

The probe was led by the ruling Workers’ Party’s Organisation and Guidance Department and orchestrated by Choe Ryong Hae, who once headed the General Political Bureau of the Korean People’s Army himself until he was replaced by Hwang Pyong So in May 2014.

“Under Choe’s command, the Organisation and Guidance Department is undertaking an inspection of the military politburo for the first time in 20 years, taking issue with their impure attitude toward the party leadership,” the lawmaker, Kim, said.
