A candidate for president in France, who’s been referred to as “France’s Female Trump” because of the circumstances surrounding her ever-increasing popularity, made waves in Lebanon on Tuesday when she refused to accept a headscarf to “cover up,” per IJR.
Marine Le Pen was offered the headscarf while visiting Beirut for an official meeting with the grand mufti.
Her response was pretty clear:
“You can pass my consideration on to the grand mufti, but I am not putting the veil on.”
She then turned around, left, and did not attend the meeting.

Her reaction draws a significant contrast with Sweden’s who, ironically, boasts a “feminist government.”
The Swedish government’s website states:

A feminist government ensures that a gender equality perspective is brought into policy-making on a broad front, both nationally and internationally. Women and men must have the same power to shape society and their own lives.
But the supposed “feminist government” came under scrutiny over a photo of the female government officials wearing hijabs.
