The blast killed at least 25 worshippers during Sunday mass inside the Cairo church near the seat of the Coptic pope who heads Egypt's Christian minority, state media said. / AFP / KHALED DESOUKI (Photo credit should read KHALED DESOUKI/AFP/Getty Images)

Christian families have begun to flee Egypt after a series of attacks by the Islamic State, per Mediaite.

Specifically, families are fleeing the North Sinai region, where a seventh person was just killed since January 30.

Check it out:

About 100 families out of 160 are fleeing, as have 200 or so students studying English in the province’s capital, Arish. In Arish, residents said that “death lists” were circulated online and Christians were told to leave or else they’d be killed. One person who fled told reporters that she closed her restaurant and left immediately because the militants of the Islamic State are “ruthless.”

One man, named Munir Adel, said that his father’s name was second a death list. Though Adel himself was gearing up to leave Egypt at the time he spoke to reporters, his parents were staying behind because of their old age.

“They could be killed at any moment,” he said.

The Islamic State has declared an insurgency in the region and claimed responsibility for all seven deaths over the past few weeks. Five were shootings, one man was beheaded, and another set on fire.

  1. The hate and violence of ISIS is common to all cultures. America has it’s proponents of hate and violence. There is only one cure; repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.

  2. This is what happens when your ability to defend yourself is taken away by government. THe Copts do not have the weapons to defend themselves and they are not allowed a defensive force under the Muslim majority government. Copts are some of the oldest Christians in the WORLD and they can go the way of the other old Christian sects in Syria, and Iraq… if something is not done to protect them from these ISLAMIC FUCKS.

  3. I say we need to save the Christians of the Middle East and Fvk the Muslim. I had the opportunity to work with a couple of Copts at one point in my cubicle jock years and they were wonderful, warm, loving. One knew I was Jewish but he would pull out his bible and he would explain to me all about their tradition and we would talk about Hebrew and Arabic and Aramaic and different eastern tongues we knew or had a smattering of.

Their former leader was a lap dog to the Egyptian Govt, Pope Shinhouda or something like that. Forbade the church from going to Israel, even though they wanted to worship at holy site and Israel was happy to welcome them. Then he croaked a couple of years ago and manCopts made it to the “Holy Land”. They are the oldest Christian community and I would like to think Israel, without fanfare, Will help find a way to get them out of there to Israel at least so they can then decide in peace, what they wanted to do, before they are all butchered.
