One of the most compelling reasons to support Donald Trump was the reality that the next president was going to have an opportunity to influence the Supreme Court for years to come.
One of Trump’s first orders of business will be to replace Antonin Scalia with a staunch conservative.
Trump has already provided a list of names that he will choose from.
Now, it looks like he has met with the candidate who is widely considered the front-runner to replace Scalia.
From The Daily Caller:
President-elect Donald Trump met with Judge William Pryor of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, a lead contender for his first appointment to the Supreme Court, at Trump Tower late Saturday.
Trump told reporters Wednesday that he expects to name a nominee to the high court in late January, during the second week of his administration. He also confirmed he has met with a number of candidates from the list of potential nominees he released during the campaign. Given that timeframe, and the fact Pryor is widely considered a frontrunner for the appointment, the Saturday meeting suggests Trump is in the final stages of the selection process.
It is looking like Pryor is at the top of the list.
There is no question that Pryor has the conservative credentials to be a good fit.
Trump says he will let the country know in late January what his plan is to fill Scalia’s seat.
Would you like to see him name Pryor as a SCOTUS nominee?
