About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.
My home state is called the Land of the Midnight Sun because the ball of fire essentially never sets during the summer months. This means we dare not tell our kids to come home before dark or we won’t see them until autumn.
I like the book of Acts pointing out Paul and Silas praying at midnight.
These men were discouraged, and with good reason to be. Locked up for obeying God, they could have sunk down in their cell and shouted to the heavens, “So this is what preaching Christ gets us!” It was midnight in their lives, very dim indeed.
Instead, they praised God!
Do you know what happens when you praise Him! It’s inviting Him closer. But is it easy to do in discouraging times?
Yet He is worthy, and no matter how dark the day or night appears, He proves this.
Sweet Freedom in Action
Read passages today that make you realize you were created to worship. Remember He is worthy of praise and adoration not just in the good times, but even more in your midnight hour.
