This week, the world famous Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race came to a close.

The winner finished in record time.

57-year-old musher Mitch Seavey not only set the record but the record he beat was previously held by his son.

From ADN:

Mitch Seavey just had the race of his life.

The 57-year-old musher from Sterling won the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, shattering the speed record by nearly eight hours to steal the title of fastest Iditarod musher ever from his much-younger son, Dallas.

Mitch remains the race’s oldest champion and has notched three wins in 13 years, his last in 2013 at age 53.

“Fifty-seven used to be old, and it’s not anymore. I’m just letting you know that,” Seavey said at a press conference after the race, his statement met by applause in the crowded building near the finish line.

Seavey is now the fastest and oldest Iditarod champion.

Mitch’s father also raced in 5 Iditarods including the first race in 1973.

That’s three generations of Seavey mushers.

Amazing story.

Congratulations to Mitch!

  1. An impressive share, I just with all this onto a colleague who was conducting a little analysis with this. And he in fact bought me breakfast because I uncovered it for him.. smile. So let me reword that: Thnx with the treat! But yeah Thnkx for spending time to go over this, I am strongly over it and really like reading more about this topic. When possible, as you grow expertise, does one mind updating your site with an increase of details? It is highly helpful for me. Big thumb up for this short article!

  2. The when I just read a weblog, Hopefully that this doesnt disappoint me as much as this. Come on, man, It was my method to read, but I personally thought youd have something interesting to say. All I hear is usually a few whining about something that you could fix when you werent too busy seeking attention.
