French firefighters and RAID police unit officers secure Paris' Orly airport on March 18, 2017 following the shooting of a man by French security forces. Security forces at Paris' Orly airport shot dead a man who took a weapon from a soldier, the interior ministry said. A shooter opened fire on three police officers, then headed to Paris Orly Airport early Saturday morning, per Sky News.

The shooter has been confirmed as a known radicalized Muslim and was on the terror watchlist.

The gunman launched his first attack after being stopped for speeding at a road check north of the city early this morning, shooting a policewoman in the head.

He then held up a woman motorist at gunpoint, stealing her car and driving to Orly airport.

In the airport terminal the attacker assaulted a patrol of three counter-terrorism soldiers, wrestling one of them to the floor and trying to take her gun.

The attacker was shot and killed by a patrol officer inside the airport.

Pictures of the man, who is 39 and has been named locally as Ziyed B, lying dead with his arms outstretched on the terminal floor have emerged in the wake of the shooting.
