Senator Bernie Sanders quickly used the horrific incident in Charlottesville, Virginia where one person was killed and several others were injured as means of attacking President Donald Trump.

The Vermont Senator posted to his Twitter blaming Trump – before quickly deleting the post.

Per Independent Journal Review:

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) really wanted to burn President Donald Trump on Monday night, but it took him a few tries before he got it right.

Sanders — or one of his staffers — tweeted (and then deleted) a couple messages directly blaming Trump for the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, where alt-righters, neo-Nazis, and white supremacists rallied to protest the removal of a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee.

Sanders Twitter account originally tweeted out that blame for the horrific incident in Charlottesville, Virginia rest solely on Trump’s shoulders:

The Sanders team soon deleted the tweet and posted another one to replace it:

Similar language, but this tweet was also deleted:

But, as they say, the third time’s a charm.

In his third and current tweet, Sanders scrubbed the direct link between Trump and the Charlottesville violence, instead choosing to criticize the president for his failure to call out specific hate groups in his initial statement against the riots.

Here’s the tweet Sanders decided to stick with:

Trump did eventually call out the participating groups by name, condemning their violence:

It should be noted that, on Monday, Trump finally called out hate groups by name, condemning them for the violent clashes in Charlottesville.

“Racism is evil,” the president said. “And those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and other hate groups that are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans.”
