Democrats just do not get it: people do not want Washington elites sitting in their ivory towers and making light of bonuses paid out to workers.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi learned this lesson months ago, but some Democrats are still going after American workers.
Shortly after President Trump signed into law the largest tax reform bill in over three decades, more than 500 business dolled out bonuses to more than 4 million workers across the country. In addition, most taxpayers will be getting more money in their paychecks and will be paying less taxes to the federal government at the end of the year.
After the bonuses were announced, Pelosi called the $1,000 bonuses “crumbs” and said they were essentially meaningless to working Americans.
She was wrong and she was widely criticized over the comment.
Even President Trump said, “People are getting 1,000, 2,000, 3,000 dollars. That’s not crumbs. That’s a lot of money.”
But, months later, members of Pelosi’s party are continuing to echo the same sentiments.
Top Democrat Senator Cory Booker recently said the $1,000 bonuses were “crumbs.”
Check it out, per Fox News Insider:
Sen. Cory Booker echoed the sentiments of Nancy Pelosi when he downplayed bonuses to workers after the Republicans’ tax cuts.
Booker said the one-time employee bonuses have been “advertised so much” but they pale in comparison to the stock buybacks announced by corporations.
“Who’s getting the most? We’re getting crumbs. By the way, for those people who might have gotten $1,000 as a bonus, remember that’s not free money. It’s coming with the cost of driving up our debt,” the New Jersey Democrat said.

As Fox News Insider reports, Pelosi backpedaled her comments and instead she said she was “thankful” for the bonuses, but said she wanted more businesses to doll out more permanent, “long-term raises.”
Some people who responded to Booker’s comments seem to think he is wrong – very wrong – like Pelosi was several months ago:

Very sad and pathetic. Thank god for President Trump!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

The fact he is suggesting Americans keeping more of their own hard earned money is akin to stealing from the treasury speaks volumes about Booker. He is a socialist, he thinks everything you earn and own belongs to the govt and we are basically lucky to keep any of whats ours

Come on you know that Corey Booker is a pawn for Pelosi and Schumer!!

Cory Booker thinks the bonus ppl get is the government’s $. It is not the person who earned it! This is the Democrat’s perspective of ppl’s money! Socialists!🇺🇸

The Dems love to talk about “tax bonuses” for the 4 million or so whose companies felt able to give bonuses. What about the LOWER TAXES that ALL AMERICANS get?

Booker is one of the gifts that keeps giving, much like Pelosi. He is a walking contradiction.

Pelosi and Booker regard tax breaks for hard working Americans as crumbs. Their point of view is accurate compared to the payoffs they get from lobbyists!
