BREAKING: Shooting Incident At California High School

It is being reported there is a shooting incident at Highland High School in Palmdale, California.

The incident was confirmed to Fox News via the sheriff’s office.

While the situation is developing, little information is known about the shooter, any inclination of a motive, or how many people have been harmed.

Some early reports indicate that teachers have called 911 and said there was a man with a gun in the school’s library. As Fox News reports, one person is being treated by paramedics for a gunshot wound:

Officials said they received a call about a man with a gun on the high school’s campus. First responders were on the scene. Shots were first reported at about 7 a.m. local time, which is a half hour before school was set to begin, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office said.

Firefighter-paramedics told NBC Los Angeles they received a report of one person with a gunshot wound, though any injuries couldn’t be independently confirmed. CBS Los Angeles reported a person who was injured transported themself to the hospital.

No one is in custody, the sheriff’s office said.

Highland High School is located about 65 miles from Los Angeles. The school is reportedly on lockdown.

The California incident comes three months after 17 people were tragically killed during a shooting incident at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

Authorities have responded to a possible shooting at a California High School, according to multiple reports.

A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Palmdale Station official tells PEOPLE authorities are responding to an incident at Highland High School, in Palmdale. The official could not comment on specifics about the incident.

It was not immediately clear if anyone had been injured in the incident or whether the incident is still ongoing.

According to the website for the National Center for Education Statistics, Highland High School had about 2,900 students during the 2016-2017 school year.

Authorities on Friday were responding to reports of a possible shooting at Highland High School in Palmdale.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said there was no immediate confirmation that shots had been fired at the campus at 39055 25th St. West.

According to a law enforcement source, multiple callers said there was a man with a gun at the school shortly after 7 a.m. Deputies and California Highway Patrol officers were establishing a perimeter in the area.

Firefighter-paramedics were staging in response to the reports, but no one had been transported from the school as of 7:30 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
