Weird New Jersey: High School Principal Apologizes For The Year 1776

Apparently the birth of our exceptional country is yet another thing that offends liberals. A New Jersey school principal is actually apologizing after tickets to his school’s upcoming prom urged students to “party like it’s 1776”. The event is being held at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, so the reference to 1776 makes a lot of sense. But after some snowflake students cried foul, the school principal sent out an outrageous letter.

In the letter, Cherry Hill High School East Principal Dennis Perry claims the reference to our nation’s first days is “insensitive” wording. Perry adds it was “irresponsible” for he and other prom organizers to overlook the historical fact that “not all communities can celebrate what life was like in 1776”.

The pathetic note goes on to read: “I especially apologize to our African American students, whom I have let down by not initially recognizing the inappropriateness of this wording. You can expect that we will do better as a school community to produce well thought out, appropriate communications.”

Wow!

This school “leader” is apologizing for America. This is a man that is supposed to guide children. Instead he’s drumming up fake outrage over nothing. These are the sad times we live in, however. This is liberal lunacy on steroids.

The Cherry Hill East prom slogan has included “1776” for a decade. Somehow the previous students survived a nice night at a beautiful venue. We all recognize that date as the starting point of our exceptional nation but now some empty suit is telling us that date represents micro-racial aggression instead.

What does this principal think about Independence Day? That must be a no go in his world too, right?

Of course we recognize that many things were different in 1776. Things were not the best for blacks. Things were not best for women either. No one disputes that. Still, the year signifies the start of the United States of America, the greatest nation ever in the history of the world. There should be no shame in that.

Instead of worrying about real issues, like providing our children with adequate school safety, clown princes like this overpaid loon will instead express faux outrage, to make himself look better to some, and for him to feel better about his own visceral insecurities. It’s a scary world in our public school system.

Hopefully, the kids from Cherry Hill have a fun, safe, memorable prom. It’s unfortunate the adults often have to go and ruin things. But rest easy America, the big strong principal is making sure no one has to hear of that 1776 number.

I wonder if Prince’s ‘1999’ will be OK to play at the prom? After all, that was a year in which a freshly impeached President Bill Clinton was in office, lying away, trying to figure out how to get Monica Lewinsky off the minds of Americans and trying to figure out how much money he should pay Paula Jones. Perhaps a student should complain about that year and make sure that tune is never played. Of course that would never happen, because only liberals cry about such nonsense, but it certainly drives home the point of just how silly it is to censor the mention of a year in history in the name of potential hurt feelings.
