In a tweet on Friday, Hillary Clinton said that she was “heartbroken” over the “new” immigration policies of the Trump administration. She ranted to her near-23 million followers that the way the United States was enforcing immigration law was an “absolute disgrace.”
“Like so many others, I am horrified and heartbroken by what is happening to immigrant kids and families because of this administration’s disastrous policies,” Clinton began her rant.
The former presidential nominee continued, “We now know that more than 700 kids were separated from their parents between October 2017 and April 2018. As a mother and a grandmother, it’s devastating to even imagine.”
And, “Not only that – this administration built on their “zero tolerance” policy earlier this month. The result? Nearly 700 more kids were separated from their families in the first two weeks of the new program. Think about that. Hundreds of families torn apart in two weeks.”
Clinton then shared a quote from Muzaffar Chishti of the Migration Policy Institute.
“In the immigration context, the government has never taken a stand against the protection of kids in this country. For the first time, it is now formally taking a position that explicitly goes against the best interests of kids,” he said, as she tweeted.
The runner-up in the 2016 presidential campaign then lamented that she felt “helpless” and said the country should be graded by how it is treating “the most vulnerable among us.”
“It is now the official policy of the US government – a nation of immigrants – to separate children from their families. That is an absolute disgrace,” she tweeted. “If you’re like me, there’s nothing worse than feeling helpless.”
Clinton added, “There is no more important test of our country than the way we treat the most vulnerable among us, especially children. We cannot turn away from what’s happening on our watch – we have to act.”
What Clinton failed to mention, and which several people quickly reminded her of, the current immigration policy was authorized by former President Barack Obama.
“But just devastating now that Trump is President, right?” One user questioned. “I don’t remember your outrage when thousands of kids separated from their parents under Obama ended up victims of human trafficking.”
You are missing ONE BIG OVERSITE LADY! If BO and yourself would have done a better job with immigration they wouldn’t be split up in the first place!! WE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE NOT STUPID THATS WE WE DIDN’T VOTE FOR YOU!!! MAGA WITH US AMERICAN DEPLORABLES!!!

That was YOU and OBAMA. Why do you keep lying to these mislead people who follow you.? You are harming them and they don’t even realize it as they hang on your every Lie and Deflection. They are only sheep to you to use for your own ends. You have No Soul. It Will come out

I’ll assume you’re referring to the 2014 article that exposed Obama of this. Why are you always the last person to share something & try to make it sound like it’s your own idea? Further, you (and so many others) have tried to make this a Trump issue. We can all read a timestamp

Others pointed out to Clinton that, as America is a “nation of immigrants,” it is also a nation of laws.
“They are enforcing the law,” one user responded.
You mean the best interest for illegal kids. Not American kids. Trump is doing what the American public wants and what is best to protect our country. Somthing you liberal’s know nothing about. Stop pretending you care. That is why you lost…

I have a solution- don’t come here illegally
— Jack Czerwinski (@jackczerwin) June 2, 2018
There would be no separation had they come here legally. Oh legally. Never mind. Not in your vocabulary!

People who break the law and go to jail are separated from their families every day. Kind of like how you should be in jail separated from your family, but laws don’t apply to you either?

“The most vulnerable among us,” sounds like a line from pro-life centers across the nation. Is Clinton arguing for protecting the unborn? Several people seemed to make the connection.
One user simply asked, “Are you referring to Planned Parenthood?”

And if you’re so worried about kids being separated from their parents, why are you ok with abortion?

“Hundreds of families torn apart…” And what about the babies bodies torn apart, that you’re wholeheartedly endorsing, in exchange for funds and votes? “As a mother & a grandmother…”? You ought to be protecting the ladies from this violation & those precious children’s lives.
