Media Will Want To Hide This: Democrat Candidate Calls ICE A ‘Terrorist Organization’

Cynthia Nixon, a former actress who is now a Democrat gubernatorial candidate in New York, has painted the country’s top immigration enforcement agency in dark colors. During a speech at St. Paul and St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Manhattan’s Upper West Side, Nixon said that U.S. Customs and Enforcement (ICE) was a “terrorist organization.”

“ICE has strayed so far away from its mission. It is supposed to be here to keep Americans safe but what it has turned into, frankly, is a terrorist organization of its own that is terrorizing people who are coming to this country,” she said, as Fox News reports.

Following her speech, the 52-year-old actress-turned-politician took to social media to echo her criticism of the agency which helps secure the country’s border. “ICE is a terrorist organization, and its egomaniacal leader is Donald Trump,” she said in a tweet.

Earlier in the day, Nixon appeared on ABC’s “The View,” where she also criticized the immigration agency and said it should be abolished.

“I think we need to abolish ICE. That seems really clear,” she said according to New York Post. “They have strayed so far from the interests of the American people and the interests of humanity.”

“Families aren’t just being separated at the border, they’re being separated throughout this country by ICE. I think we need to abolish ICE, that seems really clear,” she said, as the Hill reports.

“ICE is relatively new, it came in after September 11th,” Nixon added. “We’ve been handling immigration and customs for a long time here, we don’t need ICE.”

Nixon’s idea is one which has permeating people on the Left and could become an issue which affects the ballot box in November.

“The goal of abolishing ICE has recently become a hot topic among progressives, who now see it as a litmus test for any potential Democratic candidates — especially in the upcoming 2020 presidential election,” Fox News reports.

Here’s more, from Fox News:

The suggestion isn’t found just among the fringes of the progressive movement. Earlier this year, the idea of abolishing ICE was endorsed by Brian Fallon, a former top aide to 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, and Eric Holder, President Barack Obama’s attorney general.

“ICE operates as an unaccountable deportation force,” Fallon tweeted. “Dems running in 2020 should campaign on ending the agency in its current form.”

U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., a potential 2020 candidate, faced a backlash in March after saying “ICE has a purpose, ICE has a role, ICE should exist” during an interview. She was lambasted by liberal publications for not openly calling for the agency’s abolition.
