Voters across the state of Florida have a consequential decision before them for the state’s race for Governor: Conservative Congressman Ron DeSantis or Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum.
DeSantis won the Republican primary after he was endorsed by President Trump and ran a campaign which repeatedly expressed his pro-Trump views.
Gillum defied expectations in winning the Democrat nomination over Congresswoman Gwen Graham, daughter of former Senator Bob Graham.
Trump congratulated DeSantis on the win and said he couldn’t be happier his opposition is a democrat socialist.
“Not only did Congressman Ron DeSantis easily win the Republican Primary, but his opponent in November is his biggest dream….a failed Socialist Mayor named Andrew Gillum who has allowed crime & many other problems to flourish in his city. This is not what Florida wants or needs!”

As the Hill reports, the Democrat garnered support from “a number of high-profile celebrity endorsements, ranging from actor Alec Baldwin to Jane Fonda.” He was also financially supported by liberal billionaires Tom Steyer and George Soros.

“Medicare for All” and a $15-per-hour minimum wage were staple talking points Gillum incorporated in his campaign.

The mayor responded to Trump’s remark with a tweet of his own.
“What our state and country needs is decency, hope, and leadership,” Gillum tweeted.

Here’s more on DeSantis’ and Gillum’s victories, per Fox News:
DeSantis, who was backed by President Trump, appeared on the “Ingraham Angle” following his win, and denounced his competitor, Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, as “the most liberal candidate that the Democratic Party has ever nominated in the state of Florida by a country mile in a governor’s race.”
Gillum’s unexpected win was seen as a huge win for the newly emerging progressive wing of the Democratic Party, and Tuesday’s outcome immediately transformed the nation’s largest swing state into one of the key gubernatorial campaigns in the country.
The two will compete to replace outgoing Florida Gov. Rick Scott.
“(Gillum) wants to abolish ICE; he wants a billion-dollar tax increase; he wants a single-payer health care system in Florida, which would bankrupt the state. I’m trying to make Florida even better. He wants to make Florida Venezuela,” DeSantis said, adding that Gillum’s tenure as mayor has been “absolutely disastrous.”
Senator Bernie Sanders expressed support for Gillum following the win.
“What has made Andrew’s campaign so powerful is that he’s not just working hard to win an election, he has laid out a vision for a new course for the state of Florida and our country. No one person can take on the economic and political elites on their own,” Sanders said, as the Hill reports.
And, “Tonight, Floridians joined Andrew in standing up and demanding change in their community. That’s what the political revolution is all about and Andrew Gillum is helping to lead it.”

If FL voters were to elect Bernie-endorsed and Soros-funded Andrew Gillum as Governor FL could become Venezuela with theme parks and beaches! Uh, no thanks.
