If the tremendous drop in Nike’s stock price or their plummeting favorability rating is any indication, using former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick as the face of their “believe in something, even if it means you have to sacrifice everything” campaign is not working. Kaepernick is infamously known for making disparaging comments about the American flag, the National Anthem, and law enforcement officers across the country.
Not a good look for Nike to adopt that label.
Some people are beginning to petition the sports retail giant to change the face of the campaign to someone perhaps more deserving of the accolade: fellow former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow.
Tebow, who currently plays in the MLB, took to social media and shared a video concerning the meaning of life and how to live a life worthwhile.
Check it out, per Politifeed:
Tim Tebow has been out of the NFL for years now but is still making an impact across the world when he’s off the Baseball field. Most people don’t realize that Tebow gives in such a way to so many people that he embodies the true representation of someone who sacrifices everything because he believes in something.
That right! Tebow is a true hero who sacrifices on and off the field for others and for what he believes in. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Now his fans are asking Nike to make him their new poster boy. Instead of Colin Kaepernick.
“It’s about two dates,” Tebow said at the beginning of the video. “The day you are born and the day you die. What really matters is the dash in-between. It’s so much more than just a dash. The dash represents just us. But if our life is only about us it’s already worthless.”
“We live in a time where it’s so easy to get caught up in me and mine. Money fame and power and what benefits me. Then I’m brought back to so many moments in the Bible where Jesus was so countercultural when He says, ‘do you really want to be filled up? Then go serve! Do you want to get, then give.’”
“What matters in our lives is really two things: what did we do with Jesus, and what did we do with others.”
Just a quick encouragement for you guys… It’s not about what you have, it’s about the lives you impact! Tim Tebow Foundation

On the field, it is easy to see the difference between the two:
Kaepernick was cut from the San Francisco 49ers organization after amounting only 3 wins but 10 losses in his last two seasons as a starter. At the time, analysts claimed the quarterback’s future as a starter were over. He would at-best be permitted to sit on a bench as a back-up or would be cut from the team and his fate would be decided in the free agency, they argued.
Tebow’s story is much different. In his last season, Tebow took the Denver Broncos to the playoffs after they started a dismal 1-4. Tebow led his team on a 7 to 4 run and then defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Wild Card playoff game. After that season, Tebow spent some time with the New York Jets but never started another game – becoming the first quarterback under 30 to never start a game after winning a playoff match.
Off the field, the two athletes share similarities, though their causes are different.
Kaepernick claims he and others in the African-American community have wrongly suffered oppression and have been unfairly treated by law enforcement for their skin color and protested the pregame playing of the National Anthem. Tebow instead put his Christian faith on display by writing verse references like John 3:16 on the paint just under his eyes. Tebow also would kneel in prayer before the game and after his team scored.
Both athletes have contributed extensively towards charities and have spent time volunteering with several organizations. Tebow has even started the Tim Tebow Foundation and the Night to Shine ministry which, according to its website, helps “to bring Faith, Hope and Love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need.”
