Getting Answers: Rand Paul Offers Idea On How To Locate Op-Ed Mystery Person

A scathing op-ed of the Trump administration released anonymously a few days ago has caused a firestorm over social media.

It described Trump as an out-of-control madman, who is only restrained by his administration officials. It also described how aides to the president would sometimes hide reports and details from him because they suspected he would overreact and do something rash.

Cue the outrage.

President Trump flipped out over the disparaging account from the author who identified as a “White House senior official.” Trump also rejected any validity.

He also questioned whether the actions of the author are treasonous.

Who could it be? The possibilities are seemingly endless, but Republican Senator Rand Paul recently proposed an idea on how to find its author.

From the Daily Wire:

According to the Washington Examiner, Paul’s communications director, Sergio Gor, confirmed that the senator felt lie detector tests would be justified, which falls in line with his previous suggestions.

“It isn’t the first time Paul has suggested the federal government use lie detectors to figure out who leaked classified information,” the outlet reported. “In March 2017, Paul said that the federal government should employ the method to ascertain who leaked the transcripts of former national security adviser Michael Flynn’s conversations with the U.S. ambassador.”

Paul said anyone who leaks sensitive or classified information ought to be made known and be taken to jail.

“It is very, very important that whoever released that go to jail, because you cannot have members of the intelligence community listening to the most private and highly classified information and then releasing that to The New York Times,” Paul said to ABC in 2017, as the Washington Examiner reports. “There can only be a certain handful of people who did that. I would bring them all in. They would have to take lie detector tests. And, I would say, including the political people, because some political people knew about this as well.”
