‘Best Sit This One Out’: Author Of California’s ‘Sanctuary State’ Law Reached Out To Family Of Slain Officer

California Democrat and President pro tempore of the State Senate Kevin de León reached out to the family of fallen police officer Ronil Singh and offered his condolences.

In a tweet, the Democrat said: “Our hearts are heavy during this holiday season.” He also said the 33-year-old Newman Police Department officer who legally migrated into the United States from Fiji “truly lived the American Dream.”


Some people were frustrated over what they called empty words as León was the very man who authored the bill which made California a “sanctuary state.”

“For what it’s worth, de León is the senator who introduced SB 54, California’s ‘sanctuary state’ bill, that was signed by Gov. Jerry Brown in October 2017,” Twitchy reports. “SB 54 prohibits state and local law enforcement from asking anyone about their immigration status, among many other things.”
