California law enforcement officials have arrested the alleged killer of Newman Police Cpl. Ronil Singh who was killed last week during a DUI stop.
But they’ve now also arrested seven other people for allegedly trying to help him escape capture.
And guess what?
Not only was Gustavo Arriaga an illegal alien, but everyone who tried to help him was as well, according to the police.
According to the Daily Wire: , the seven included two brothers of Arriaga and his girlfriend. Those arrested were Bernabe Madrigal Castaneda, Erasmo Villegas, Maria Luisa Moreno, Adrian Virgen, Erik Quiroz, Ana Leyde Cervantes, and Conrado Virgen Mendoza.
The police also said that Arriaga was connected to the Surenos street gang which engaged in “a number of crimes, including murder, extortion, narcotics trafficking, prostitution, human smuggling and robbery.”
“Illegal immigration doesn’t serve our communities, especially criminals who victimize and exploit our communities,” Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson said on Fox News last week. “Whether you hate the president or love the president, border security goes hand-in-hand with national security, the safety of our communities, and public safety. We need to know who is in our communities that shouldn’t be. We should be focusing on criminal activity without political interference.”
“We were prohibited — law enforcement was prohibited because of sanctuary laws and that led to the encounter with officer Singh,” Christianson added during a news conference on Friday. “The outcome could have been different if law enforcement wasn’t restricted, prohibited, or had their hands tied because of political interference.”
Sheriff Christianson also noted that even now they are prohibited from formally contacting ICE about the seven people arrested being illegal aliens because of the California sanctuary laws.
“They intentionally lied to us, they tried to divert us away from the investigation. They misled us. They provided us false information to protect their brother, who we also know was trying to flee to Mexico,” said Christianson.
That’s just crazy.
Chrisitianson said the shooting could have been preventable.
“Why are we providing sanctuary for criminals, gang members? It’s a conversation we need to have,” he said.Note: The author of this article has included commentary that expresses an opinion and analysis of the facts.
