CNN Asks Wasserman Schultz What Was the Purpose of Gov’t Shutdown — Response Stuns Everyone

With the Democrats clearly on the losing end of last weekend’s temporary government shutdown, CNN brought former Democrat National Committee boss and current Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz on to talk about what the Democrats got (or didn’t get) with Senator Chuck Schumer’s cave in on Monday. Her answer floored CNN.

Wasserman Schultz is famous for her desperate and absurd attempts to turn Democrat lemons into lemonade and she didn’t disappoint even with a CNN host who was 100 percent on her side.

Appearing on CNN on Tuesday with host Brooke Baldwin, Wasserman Schultz noted that she was disappointed that her party had backed down so quickly and had given in to the GOP and President Donald Trump over the government shutdown showdown.

The Democrat Party essentially got nothing out of the showdown over the budget and soon meekly voted for a bill that temporarily funded the government for the next several weeks.

According to Daily Caller, Baldwin asked Schultz directly what the Democrats got:

When Schultz was asked point-blank what the point of the government shutdown was her response left Baldwin’s jaw on the floor. “What one thing did [Schumer] get, you know, from Republicans, to justify shutting down the government in the first place?” Baldwin asked. DWS replied:

“The one thing, I would say, that [Schumer] did get is the potential for momentum.”

Baldwin looked stunned and asked if the “potential for momentum” was “really worth it to shut down the government?”

With that extremely weak reply out of her lips, Wasserman Schultz went on to try and insist that the shutdown was Trump’s loss.

“Republicans should be asking that question because they shut it down. This is Trump’s shutdown,” she said.

This is a laughable proclamation. Even the left-wing media has termed this battle a loss for the Democrats.

Watch the exchange:

Despite Wasserman Schultz’s desperate efforts to re-name the shutdown “Trump’s shutdown,” no one is signing onto her term, not even the liberal media.

Take CNN, for instance. On Monday evening, CNN posted a story entitled, “How Democrats lost the shutdown.” In it’s story, CNN clearly laid the loss over the shutdown battle on the shoulders of Chuck Schumer and the Democrats.

The left-wing Washington Post also blamed the Democrats with a Monday article entitled, “Why the Democrats lost their nerve in the shutdown battle.”

The Post followed that with “Democrats caved on the shutdown, and they’re admitting it.”

Politico also chimed in saying, “Democrats get rolled in shutdown standoff.”

It goes on and on just like that. Very few articles out there, even from the left-wing mainstream press, have a different analysis. They all say the Democrats lost this battle.

So, Wasserman Schultz and her weak attempts to blame Trump appear laughable.
