Every American Should Agree With GOP Congressman’s ‘Greatest Concern’ On FBI Story

Republican Congressman Brad Wenstrup was asked what he thought about the newly uncovered FBI informant story and his response sidesteps any typical political talk and strikes right to the heart of the issue.

During an interview at the Capitol, the House Intelligence Committee member said, “to use a Lincoln quote, from the Gettysburg address, testing whether that nation or any nation so conceived [and so dedicated], can long endure.”

The Ohio Congressman then challenged those bureaucratic authorities who look to supersede powers vested to them by the American people.

“Because if these agencies feel as if they have authority over the American people, then our government is turned upside-down; it’s on its head,” Wenstrup added. “We have this responsibility, we take this responsibility, and they need to live up to it.”

Wenstrup then strikes right at the heart of the issue:

“And to take rogue actions – I call it arrogant authority – is something the American people need to know about. These aren’t people who get elected [and] you can’t take them out on the next election. When you start putting your politics over your country, over God, family, and country, we have a problem.”

“That’s my greatest concern with what is going on and what is taking place and the American people deserve to know every bit of it,” the Republican concluded.

Republican colleague Ron DeSantis similarly echoed that a second special counsel is needed to answer critical questions concerning FISA abuses and the origins of the original investigation into the Trump campaign.

DeSantis is joined by a number of others in Congress who are requesting a second special counsel:

Here’s more on the Republican supporters and the call for a second special counsel investigation, per Fox News:

The resolution is backed by Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., the chairman of the conservative House Freedom Caucus as well as two of the group’s co-founders — Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla.

Fox News has learned the 12-page resolution will ask a second special counsel to probe matters related to three topics: The ending of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s personal email server, the progress of the Trump-Russia investigation from its origins through the appointment of Robert Mueller as special counsel, and abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) during the warrant application process.

The resolution is expected to say that a second special counsel would have greater autonomy to investigate those issues than the Justice Department’s Office of the Inspector General. Last week, Inspector General Michael Horowitz told lawmakers that he had completed his draft report on the Clinton investigation and submitted it to the DOJ and the FBI.
