STUNNING: California Set To Provide Free Healthcare For Illegal Immigrants

The state of California is about to move even further to the left as they are not only a sanctuary state but will now look to provide free healthcare to those in the country illegally.

Early predictions estimate the cost of providing free healthcare for the 1.2 million illegal immigrants to be more than $3 billion. This new figure would increase a tremendously high healthcare cost from $367 billion (27% of the state’s spending) to more than $370 billion.

“It’s going to be [a] utopia for illegal immigrants,” Orange County Supervisor Michelle Steel said, per Fox Business. “I mean this is almost like obnoxious.”

She also said that the new initiative would act as a magnet for immigrants from other states and other parts of the world.

Here’s more:

California’s bill would afford protection to illegal immigrants who commit crimes, according to Steel.

“You’re getting welfare benefits, you have free healthcare coverage and then you can hide because government itself is protecting these people even [if] they commit crimes,” she said.

The state’s Legislative Analyst’s Office estimates California’s total cost would be $3 billion in the 2018-2019 budget year.

“When they say it’s $3 billion, you don’t know how much it’s going to cost,” Steel told FOX Business’ David Asman. “We’re talking about 1.2 million people.”

Steel said the new healthcare measure will add to the state’s $1.5 trillion in debt, attributable to the state’s two largest pension funds: California Public Employee Retirement System (CalPERS) and California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS).

“How are you going to add more money for healthcare coverage for illegals?” Steel asked.

Here’s more on the proposal, via Politico:

The proposal — which would build on Gov. Jerry Brown’s 2015 decision to extend health coverage to all children, regardless of immigration status — is one of the most daring examples yet of blue-state Democrats thumbing their nose at President Donald Trump as they pursue diametrically opposed policies, whether on immigration, climate change, legalized marijuana or health care.

“California has never waited for the federal government, or for a political climate, to be able to take leadership on a whole host of issues,” state Sen. Ricardo Lara, author of the state Senate bill to extend Medicaid coverage to all adults, told POLITICO.

“Since most undocumented immigrants are productive members of society, it would, of course, be much better to give them all a path to citizenship and immediately naturalize them to make it easier for them to buy regular health insurance,” Bay Area Council Economic Institute President Micah Weinberg said, championing the bill. “But just because we have bad immigration policy does not mean we shouldn’t have good health policy. And truly universal coverage is good health policy.”

Here’s how some people are responding to the bill:
