Fakes News! CNN Correspondent Gets Fact-Checked Hard By Fellow Reporter For Anti-Trump Story

A CNN correspondent quickly jumped out to report a story damaging to President Trump without all the details. Sound familiar? It seems to be a pattern of some mainstream media outlets under this administration. But, this time, the correspondent was called out as fake news by a fellow reporter at CNN.

CNN’s April Ryan was seemingly ready to report anything which could be damaging to President Trump during his “Celebration of America” event at the White House on Tuesday, even if it wasn’t true.

In a now-deleted tweet, Ryan said, “Breaking: Reporters on the South Lawn have confirmed the [president] was heckled and booed when he came out to celebrate America.”

A fellow CNN reporter, Noah Gray quickly jumped in to say the reporting was bananas.

“This is not true. There was a protester who shouted at Trump and was booed,” Gray said.

In other words, Ryan’s statement was fake news – the very thing President Trump repeatedly says of the network.

Ryan subsequently corrected her story, tweeting: “Breaking: reporters are rewatching the event and found a heckler in the crowd started asking questions of @realDonaldTrump and the heckler was booed. The heckler was escorted out of the event. The booes were for the heckler.”

And, “The original breaking boo tweet was deleted as reporters on the South Lawn who told of the booign and heckling did not see all of what happened on the other side of the lawn. After the tape was watched the heckler was booed not @realDonaldTrump.”

Here’s more on the heckler in question:

The patriotic event was scheduled after Trump rescinded an invitation to the Philadelphia Eagles. As per tradition, the winning team of a major sporting event is invited to the White House. After rescinding the invite, Trump instead featured the “Celebration of America” event to focus on the importance of standing up for the National Anthem.
