Former FBI Director James Comey is out of office and is pulling no punches. His latest target is the Left’s former golden girl, Hillary Clinton. Comey led an FBI investigation of Clinton ahead of the 2016 presidential election, something she attributes to her losing the election. The investigation concerned Clinton using a private email server to send classified information during her time leading the State Department.
A report released last week from Inspector General Michael Horowitz revealed that Comey similarly used a private email during his time while working in the Federal Bureau of Investigation. After the announcement last week, Clinton took to social media to criticize the former director. She simply responded in a tweet, “But my emails” – a clear reference to her former investigation.
On Tuesday, speaking to a crowd in Berlin, Germany, Comey was asked about his use of the personal email while FBI Director and Clinton’s subsequent bon mot. He was asked further if he thought it was an appropriate time to apologize to Clinton.
“No, and here’s why,” Comey responded to moderator Holger Stark, as Daily Wire reports.
“Again I don’t want to criticize her, but it shows me that even at this late date she doesn’t understand what the investigation in her case was about. It was not about her use of personal email system, and she didn’t get that during the investigation.”
In other words, if she thought the investigation was so important because she used a personal email then she entirely missed the severity of sending classified information on that email. If she doesn’t understand the importance of keeping classified information classified, then that sounds like a reason not to ever elect her to the presidency.
Comey continued: “She used to say, ‘Well, Colin Powell when he was Secretary used AOL.’ That was not what it was about. It was about communicating about classified topics on that system when those topics have to be done on a classified email.”
The former FBI director subsequently denied that he ever sent classified information via his personal email, per Free Beacon:
Comey said that he used his personal email system to email his speeches to his government account after he wrote them at home, adding that he was “not talking about anything remotely classified and the inspector general didn’t say that as well.”

Watch Comey’s comments below:
As Fox News reports, Comey is under investigation by the Justice Department for potentially sending classified information to a friend and Columbia University Professor Daniel Richman.
From the report:
Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz confirmed publicly Monday that his office is investigating James Comey for his handling of classified information as part of memos he shared documenting discussions with President Trump.
The inspector general’s comments confirmed reports dating back to April that the ex-FBI director was facing scrutiny, amid revelations that at least two of the memos he shared with his friend, Columbia University Professor Daniel Richman, contained information now deemed classified.
While Comey admits to sending the memos, he denies that any of the information was classified:
Comey, whom Trump fired in May 2017, denied that sharing the memos with his legal team constituted a leak of classified information. Instead, he compared the process to keeping “a diary.”
“I didn’t consider it part of an FBI file,” Comey said. “It was my personal aide-memoire…I always thought of it as mine.”
In his testimony last year before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Comey said he made the decision to document the interactions in a way that would not trigger security classification.
But in seven Comey memos handed over to Congress in April, eight of the 15 pages had redactions under classified exceptions.
