New IG Report ROASTED James Comey, Trump Just Dealt Him The Finishing Blow

Many people were anticipating the release of Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s report detailing the events leading up to the 2016 presidential election, but nobody could have guessed just how explosive the report has been.

The report detailed the FBI’s mishandling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation, exposed vicious language used by FBI officials to describe Trump supporters, and potentially found criminal bribes conducted between members of the media and the FBI.

Much of the 500-page report, however, rips former FBI Director James Comey.

As Daily Wire reports, the former director was scolded several times for breaking FBI and Justice Department protocols in handling the Clinton investigation and in making statements to Congress without proper authorization.

The IG report specified that Comey did not act with political bias, but said he fell short of maintaining the integrity people should expect from the FBI.

Horowitz said: “While we did not find that these decisions were the result of political bias on Comey’s part, we nevertheless concluded that by departing so clearly and dramatically from FBI and department norms, the decisions negatively impacted the perception of the FBI and the department as fair administrators of justice.”

Per the Daily Wire report:

Horowitz said that Comey had troublingly failed to inform the Department of Justice in advance about his July 5 statement condemning Clinton for carelessness but absolving her of criminal activity. Horowitz said that Comey’s failure to coordinate with the DOJ involved a “troubling lack of any direct, substantive communication” with then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch. Horowitz added that Comey should have coordinated with Lynch before sending his October 28, 2016 letter to Congress announcing the reopening of the Hillary email investigation based on discoveries on Anthony Weiner’s computer. Horowitz stated:

We found it extraordinary that, in advance of two such consequential decisions, the FBI director decided that the best course of conduct was to not speak directly and substantively with the attorney general about how best to navigate those decisions.

As Washington Examiner reports, President Trump was quick to scold Comey and commented that the former director will be remembered as the “worst leader” in the FBI’s 110-year history. Trump added that his pick to lead the bureau will restore its integrity.

“The IG Report is a total disaster for Comey, his minions and sadly, the FBI. Comey will now officially go down as the worst leader, by far, in the history of the FBI. I did a great service to the people in firing him. Good Instincts. Christopher Wray will bring it proudly back!” Trump tweeted on Friday morning.

And, per Fox News:

President Trump broke his silence on the scathing inspector general’s report with a vengeance Friday, first tweeting that the FBI boss he fired was the “worst” in the bureau’s history, then crashing “Fox & Friends” for an impromptu interview where he ripped the “scum on top” of the Obama-era bureau and said the IG “blew it.”

“I think Comey was the ringleader of this whole den of thieves,” Trump also said, per the report.

Talk about a nail in the coffin.

On a segment with FOX & Friends, former Congressman Devin Nunes similarly commented that the FBI exhibited bias and that the new IG report exposed deeply rooted issues within the bureau:
