‘This Is A Miracle Day’: Alice Johnson Immediately Thanks Jesus, Trump, And Kim Upon Being Released From Prison

On Wednesday afternoon, President Trump commuted the sentence of 63-year-old Alice Johnson. She had already served more than twenty years in prison after getting a life sentence for a first-time, drug trafficking offense, but could not be happier to restart her life.

Trump’s decision to commute Johnson followed a meeting with television icon Kim Kardashian, who advocated on her behalf during a visit to the White House.

After being released from prison, as Herald Sun reports, Johnson immediately thanked Jesus.

“I want to, first of all, thank my Lord and Savior, thank Jesus Christ,” the woman said to a group of reporters. “Without him, I can do nothing. But, with him, I can do everything.”

She then went on to thank the president and Kardashian for giving her “another chance at life.”

“I want to thank President Donald John Trump. Thank you for giving me another chance at life and restoring me to my family,” she said, accompanied by several of her family members. “Bless Kim, our little angel. Thank you, thank you. I have so many people to thank. I’m just so thankful. I feel like my life is starting over again.”

“This is a miracle day. The most unexpected thing to happen to me in my life,” she added.

In a heart-warming moment, Johnson was seen running across the street to be reunited with her family. Check it out:

Here’s more on Johnson, per CBS News:

The 63-year-old great grandmother was convicted in 1996 of eight criminal charges, including drug conspiracy, and money laundering. Her supporters have argued her life sentence for being a first-time, non-violent drug offender was too harsh. If Johnson had President Trump’s ear, she’d make an appeal to help others in similar situations.

“I would tell President Trump thank you so much. That I am going to be that one that is going to make you so proud and I hope that my life will encourage him to do this for others, too,” Johnson said.

“Today, President Donald J. Trump granted a commutation to Alice Marie Johnson, a 63-year-old great-grandmother who has served almost 22 years in Federal prison for a first-time criminal offense,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said, as Fox News reports. “Ms. Johnson has accepted responsibility for her past behavior and has been a model prisoner over the past two decades.”

“While this Administration will always be very tough on crime, it believes that those who have paid their debt to society and worked hard to better themselves while in prison deserve a second chance,” Sanders added.

Kardashian was also vocal over social media following the commutation.

“BEST NEWS EVER!!!!” she said in a series of tweets.

“So grateful to @realDonaldTrump, Jared Kushner & to everyone who has showed compassion & contributed countless hours to this important moment for Ms. Alice Marie Johnson. Her commutation is inspirational & gives hope to so many others who are also deserving of a second chance,” Kasrdashian added.
