How do you know when a joke has gone too far? Perhaps when the other party threatens to use governmental power as a response.
That is exactly the case in a situation which transpired between Donald Trump Jr. and Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
For some context, Ocasio-Cortez claims to be a democrat socialist, following in the likes of Senator Bernie Sanders, and claims the United States should implement policies like that of Sweden or Venezuela.
The president’s son then took to social media to troll Ocasio-Cortez, who is slated to be the youngest person ever to be sworn in as a member of Congress.
As the Washington Post reports, Trump Jr. uploaded a meme to his Instagram account where he contended the implementation of socialist policies in the U.S. would result in Americans being forced to eat their dogs—which has actually occurred in socialist Venezuela.

The meme is made up of two photos stitched together. The top image is of Ocasio-Cortez along with the text: “Why are you so afraid of a socialist economy?” The second picture, this time showing President Trump, provides a blunt answer: “Because Americans want to walk their dogs, not eat them.”
The president’s eldest child shared the meme to his 1.5 million Instagram followers along with the caption, “It’s funny cuz it’s true!!!” His post also included several laughing-crying face emojis and American flag icons.

Ocasio-Cortez clearly did not appreciate the humor and posted the below threatening tweet.
“I have noticed that Junior here has a habit of posting nonsense about me whenever the Mueller investigation heats up,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “Please, keep it coming Jr – it’s definitely a ‘very, very large brain’ idea to troll a member of a body that will have subpoena power in a month. Have fun!”
As Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro points out, the Congresswoman-elect is casually weaponizing the powers of the government to go after people who troll its members on the internet.
“So, um, if he trolls you on media, then you’re going to use the power of the government to come after him?” Shapiro wrote. “That’s not fascist or anything.”
Former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino tweeted, “this disturbing tweet is EXACTLY who the Democrats are. They worship the police-state. They ARE the party of weaponized, destructive government.”
Needlessly to say, people who live in socialist Venezuela have been forced to eat dogs, cats, even rats to live, the Daily Mail reports.
Levels of poverty in Venezuela have become so acute that workers at a zoo are slaughtering animals to feed others, staff have told the AFP news agency.

It is not just animal in zoos that are suffering. Large numbers of people are abandoning their pet dogs in cities of the country because they are unable to feed and vaccinate them, newspaper reports say.
Most of the dogs are starving and taking over garbage-lined street corners, blocking Venezuelans who scavenge for their own food there, El Nacional (in Spanish) reported.
Stray dogs are not a new a problem in major cities of the country, with reports from two years ago suggesting that the nation’s poorest have always hunted and eaten them.
According to the report, some families were buying and eating dog food because they were “unable to afford anything else.”
And, “The situation is reported to be especially dire for prisoners in the country who have resorted to eating rats and pigeons to avoid starving to death.”
One Venezuelan in the report said he was hospitalized “for food poisoning after eating dead rats he found in the garbage.”
