The government is facing a shutdown at the end of the week and lawmakers seem no closer to reaching a deal with President Trump.
The main point of contention is whether Congress will allocate $5 billion for the construction of a border wall.
Trump wants it, but Republican-majorities in both chambers seem unable to garner enough support for the bill to send it to Trump’s desk. So, Trump started taking things into his own hands.
Trump and Vice President Pence met with Democratic congressional leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer in the White House to try and make a deal.
On Monday, Trump also took to his usual social media platform to call out Democrats for resisting the construction of a southern border wall.
His tweet on border security included a pretty major typo, something the internet immediately highlighted.
“Anytime you hear a Democrat saying that you can have good Boarder (sic) Security without a Wall, write them off as just another politician following the party line,” the president tweeted. “Time for us to save billions of dollars a year and have, at the same time, far greater safety and control!”
From USA Today:
We all make typos, but, fairly or not, President Donald Trump’s textual slipups draw more attention than most.
That is especially true when he stumbles writing about one of his defining political issues: border security. Or, as the president called it in a tweet on Monday, “Boarder Security.”

Trump’s tweet comes after last week’s heated Oval Office meeting with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Senate Minority Leader, R-N.Y., Chuck Schumer, in which he accused Democrats of not wanting to secure the U.S.-Mexico border and vowed to shut down the government if he does not get $5 billion to fund construction of his promised border wall.
Incoming internet trolls…
Despite the humor, Trump’s point was crystal clear: a border wall will reduce the cost of illegal immigration by eliminating it—all $113 billion that it is costing taxpayers each year.
BizPac Review reports Israel struggled with illegal immigration before they constructed a border wall. When they did, according to the report, illegal immigration was reduced 100 percent. Zilch. Zip. Zero.
From the report:
David Rubin, the former mayor of Shiloh, Israel, urged the United States to build a wall to protect its borders, saying Israelis are thrilled with their wall because it has slashed their illegal immigration down to ZERO.
Rubin said many Israelis initially complained about the wall — the same way American liberals do today — but they’re happy now because illegal immigration has vanished.
“Some of the Israeli left were complaining and even accusing the Israeli government of racism, but now, nobody is complaining,” Rubin said. “Everybody is happy that we don’t have illegal immigration.”
