The Left FLIPS Out Over Trump’s Santa Comment To 7-Year-Old, Family Is Perfectly OK With It

President Trump and First Lady Melania spent some time over their Christmas stay at the White House to answer calls from children across the country.

It is a tradition for the president and the first lady to answer some calls into the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) when young children are looking for Santa.

One phone conversation, in particular, has some members of the media and the Left flustered. During the call, Trump asked a seven-year-old girl named Collman if she still believed in Santa.

As the Washington Examiner reports, Trump asked: “Hello, is this Collman? Merry Christmas. How are you? How old are you? … Are you doing well in school? Are you still a believer in Santa?”

“Because at 7 it’s marginal, right?” the president reportedly asked with a laugh.

From the report:

President Trump asked a young kid if she still believes in Santa Claus while speaking with children calling into NORAD’s Santa tracking hotline on Christmas Eve.

The press caught a glimpse of the president and wife Melania Trump taking calls on separate phones Monday evening in the White House’s state dining room, which was decked out in Christmas decorations.

To another child, the president asked, “What’s Santa going to get you for Christmas? Who’s with you. … Have a great Christmas, and I’ll talk to you again, OK?”

Meanwhile Melania, wearing a high-neck black sheath dress and high reddish or maroon heels, in one conversation told a kid, “Are you tracking Santa? Do you know where he is? … I hope your dreams come true.”

Some people on the Left claim Trump ruined the girl’s Christmas and alleged the family would be upset by the remark — they weren’t.

The family responded to the outrage saying they appreciated the call and the president for taking the time to do so, BuzzFeed reports.

The parents of Collman Lloyd — the 7-year-old girl from Lexington, South Carolina, whose phone call with President Trump on Christmas Eve went viral after he asked her if she still believes in Santa Claus and then said, “at 7 it’s marginal, right?” — said they have no issue with how Trump spoke to their daughter.

In fact, dad Donald J. Lloyd, 40 (who, as it happens, shares a first name and middle initial with the president), told BuzzFeed News he would have used similar language with his daughter, and that he thinks the remark is being blown out of proportion and unfairly politicized.

“I think it’s crazy it became a big deal. It’s Christmastime. I’d love to keep politics out of Christmas,” said Donald. “It didn’t bother me — I like to talk to my kids like adults.”

Collman’s mom, Erica similarly said she was pleased and “impressed” with the president’s call.

“I’m a teacher. I’m OK with the vocabulary,” said Erica, who is a teacher. “He was very kind. I was very impressed with the phone call.”
