Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wants people on the Right to know that they should not launch personal attacks because of something a person wears.
The New York Democrat accused Fox News’ Judge Jeanine Pirro of instigating a recent attack on Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.
Pirro previously questioned whether wearing a hijab, like Omar does, signals allegiance to Sharia Law. She further questioned whether this was in conflict with the U.S. Constitution.
Ocasio-Cortez chimed in: “Understand when Jeanine Pirro goes on Fox + rallies people to think hijabs are threatening, it leads to this. Folks who imply we’re ‘bad’ for politics, the party, the country, etc. have no idea the threats we deal w/ because of that kind of language.”
“Talk policy, not personal,” she added.
Ocasio-Cortez accompanies the tweet with an article from CNN which describes the crazed actions of a 55-year-old man who threatened to attack and kill Omar.
A New York man is in custody after having been arrested and charged with threatening to assault and murder Rep. Ilhan Omar, according to the US Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York.
Patrick W. Carlineo, Jr., 55, of Addison, New York, threatened to kill Omar because of her Muslim faith, according to a criminal complaint and accompanying affidavit.
A call was placed to Omar’s Washington, DC, office on March 21, an FBI agent stated in the affidavit.
During the call, an individual, who identified himself as Pat Carlineo, said to a staff member: “Do you work for the Muslim Brotherhood? Why are you working for her, she’s a (expletive) terrorist. I’ll put a bullet in her (expletive) skull.”
Omar’s office referred the threat to the US Capitol Police, which began an investigation with the FBI.
Twitchy reports that Pirro was never mentioned in the report and that Ocasio-Cortez’s attempt to lecture the Right comes after years of people on the Left going after and attacking people for wearing the red Make America Great Again hats.
Several people online criticized Ocasio-Cortez for throwing stones in a glass house:
