Ilhan Omar Doubles Down On Her 9/11 Comments, Mentions G.W.Bush

Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is facing impeachment calls after she seemingly diminished the terror attacks on September 11, 2001, where 3,000 Americans died.

During an interview with CAIR in Los Angeles, California, Omar described the terror attacks as simply “some people did something.” The comments were widely perceived as offensive and diminishing of the horrific attack.

The Democrat could have acknowledged that some people were offended by her comments and apologized for the perceived slight, but she didn’t.

Instead, the congresswoman from Minnesota is doubling-down on the comments, invoking former President George W. Bush in a new response.

“Was Bush downplaying the terrorist attack?” Omar asked in a tweet with a Washington Post article. “What if he was a Muslim?”

“The people — and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon!” she also said in the tweet, quoting Bush.

The Washington Examiner reports:

The right-leaning New York Post published a dramatic front page Thursday with the screaming headline “Here’s your something.”

Former FBI Investigator and now CNN Legal Analyst James Gagliano called Omar’s tweet a “false equivalence”

“President Bush made this statement days after World Trade Center was reduced to rubble, as he stood atop the smoking pile. I was there,” Gagliano said. “We, in FBI, were working to determine involvement in conspiracy, following evidence.”

Here’s a transcript of Bush’s Bullhorn speech, given atop the crumbed World Trade towers, via American Rhetoric:

President Bush: Thank you all. I want you all to know — it [bullhorn] can’t go any louder —  I want you all to know that American today, American today is on bended knee, in prayer for the people whose lives were lost here, for the workers who work here, for the families who mourn. The nation stands with the good people of New York City and New Jersey and Connecticut as we mourn the loss of thousands of our citizens

Rescue Worker: I can’t hear you!

President Bush: I can hear you! I can hear you! The rest of the world hears you! And the people — and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon!

Rescue Workers: [Chanting] U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.!

President Bush: The nation — The nation sends its love and compassion —

Rescue Worker: God bless America!

President Bush: — to everybody who is here. Thank you for your hard work. Thank you for makin’ the nation proud, and may God bless America.

Rescue Workers: [Chanting] U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.!
