Trump Shares New Nickname In Feud With Elijah Cummings, Twitter Erupts

On Monday, President Trump called Democratic Maryland Congressman Elijah Cummings “King Elijah” and said the Democrat Party will have a “long road to 2020” should they continue to be a party that rallies behind him and four freshmen Democratic members.

“If the Democrats are going to defend the Radical Left ‘Squad’ and King Elijah’s Baltimore Fail, it will be a long road to 2020,” Trump tweeted. “The good news for the Dems is that they have the Fake News Media in their pocket!”

Over the past few weeks, Trump feuded with the four Democratic freshmen members who refer to themselves as “the squad”: Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayanna Pressley.

Most recently, Trump responded to criticism from Cummings by saying he does not do enough to help out his own congressional district and accused him of corruptly taking federal dollars. On Sunday, the president also called the congressman “racist.”

“If racist Elijah Cummings would focus more of his energy on helping the good people of his district, and Baltimore itself, perhaps progress could be made in fixing the mess that he has helped to create over many years of incompetent leadership.”

The day before, Trump called Cummings a “brutal bully” and said the area in and around  Baltimore that he represents is in far worse condition that the border.

“Rep, Elijah Cummings has been a brutal bully, shouting and screaming at the great men & women of Border Patrol about conditions at the Southern Border, when actually his Baltimore district is FAR WORSE and more dangerous,” the president tweeted. “His district is considered the Worst in the USA.”

“As proven last week during a Congressional tour, the Border is clean, efficient & well run, just very crowded. Cumming District is a disgusting, rat and rodent-infested mess. If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place,” Trump added.

The feud started when Cummings criticized Trump’s handling of the immigration crisis along the southern border and claimed he was not doing enough to address it.

Fox News reports:

On Saturday, Pelosi stood by Cummings and the city of Baltimore, where she was born, and rebuked Trump, calling his remarks “racist.”

“We all reject racist attacks against [Cummings] and support his steadfast leadership,” Pelosi tweeted Saturday.

Trump responded, “There is nothing racist in stating plainly what most people already know, that Elijah Cummings has done a terrible job for the people of his district, and of Baltimore itself. Dems always play the race card when they are unable to win with facts. Shame!”

Several people on Twitter supported Trump’s tweet and said Democrats would, indeed, lose in 2020:
