Dem Rep. Tim Ryan Exposes Dems’ Horrible 2020 Strategy During Debate Clash With Bernie Sanders

During the Democratic debate on Tuesday night, presidential candidate Tim Ryan clashed with Senator Bernie Sanders over his socialist agenda and far-left policies.

Ryan, who is much more moderate than some of the other Democratic candidates who joined him on stage, said Democrats did not stand a chance in 2020 against President Trump if they continue to embrace socialistic policies.

In his remarks, Ryan recapped the debate and the socialistic talking points, saying: “So far in this debate tonight we’ve talked about taking private health insurance away from union members in the industrial Midwest, we’ve talked about decriminalizing the border, and we’ve talked about giving free healthcare to undocumented workers when so many Americans are struggling to pay for their healthcare.”

“I, quite frankly, don’t think that is an agenda that we can move forward on and win,” he predicted.

Sanders was visibly frustrated about the comment and later defended his plan. Watch:

ABC News reports:

Ryan asked whether Sanders could guarantee that benefits of Medicare-for-All for union members, who he said would lose their private health care, would be as good as the benefits that their representatives fought to negotiate.

Sanders replied that the benefits would be better because of the comprehensiveness of Medicare-for-All, before Ryan cut him off.

“You don’t know that, Bernie,” Ryan interjected.

“I do know it. I wrote the damn bill,” Sanders shot back, to roaring applause.

Fox News adds:

His comments came during a long, contentious exchange in which candidates clashed over competing visions for health care. Sanders has championed the Medicare-for-all program with his own bill in the Senate and, along with Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., is perhaps its most vociferous proponent in the Democratic field.

Sanders’ team, on Twitter, doubled down on his fiery statement during the debate.

“Medicare-for-all means expanding benefits to include dental care, eyeglasses and hearing aids. I know that because I wrote the damn bill. #DemDebate,” a tweet read.

His team also tweeted his disappointment with former Rep. John Delaney, D-Md., whom he claimed spouted falsehoods about hospitals closing under his health care plan.

The Sanders campaign is attempting to use the on-stage spat to their advantage as they began selling campaign stickers with the senator’s quote.
