Rashida Tlaib Calls for Boycott of Bill Maher’s Show When He Crushes ‘BS Purity Test’

Democratic Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib is calling for the boycott of late-night talk show host Bill Maher over disparaging comments he made about her and her support of anti-Israel groups.

The Hill reports:

Maher drew applause in studio on his HBO show after declaring the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement supported by some congressional Democrats “a bulls**t purity test by people who want to appear woke but actually slept through history class.”

“It’s predicated on this notion, I think — it’s very shallow thinking — that the Jews in Israel, mostly white, and the Palestinians are browner, so they must be innocent and correct, and the Jews must be wrong. As if the occupation came right out of the blue, that these completely peaceful people found themselves occupied,” he said.

Maher mentioned Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar by name in his comments.

“Congresswoman Omar has said things like, ‘It’s all about the Benjamins,’ ‘Israel has hypnotized the world,’ ‘May Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel,’ ” Maher said via the Hill.

And, he continued: “She apologized for it, but it’s out there: Jews control the world, control the money. I can see why they don’t get a hero’s welcome.”

Maher’s comments stem from Israel barring Democratic Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, the first two Muslim women elected to Congress, from entering the country over their support for the boycott movement and amid pressure from President Trump to block them from visiting. The two were scheduled to visit Israel this weekend.

The Israeli government later said it would allow Tlaib to visit her grandmother in the West Bank if she did not promote the movement. Tlaib said she would not make the trip because she could not abide by the “oppressive conditions meant to humiliate me.”

The Democratic congresswoman did not take kindly to Maher’s comments and tweeted, “Maybe folks should boycott his show.”

“I am tired of folks discrediting a form of speech that is centered on equality and freedom,” she continued. “This is exactly how they tried to discredit & stop the boycott to stand up against the apartheid in S. Africa. It didn’t work then and it won’t now.”

As Twitchy reports, many people online took Maher’s side in the liberal warring:
