Schumer Demands McConnell Bend To Democratic Will On Impeachment

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer wants to continue the Democratic impeachment charade as the process is soon expected to transition to the Senate.

On Sunday night, Schumer sent a list of demands to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell regarding the impeachment process which included four witnesses he wants McConnell to call forward to testify.

It should be noted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler ignored Republican witness requests and made them little more than spectators throughout the House impeachment process.

Axios reports:

Schumer has sent a letter to McConnell in which he asks the Republican leader to call four witnesses who refused to testify before the House impeachment committees.

  • The witnesses Schumer has asked for all have direct knowledge of Trump administration decisions concerning the holdup of aid to Ukraine and the requests for investigations of the Bidens and of the origins of the Russia investigation.

  • They are: Mick Mulvaney, acting White House chief of staff; John Bolton, former national security adviser; Michael Duffey, associate director for national security, Office of Management and Budget; and Robert Blair, senior adviser to Mulvaney.

  • Schumer also proposes that the Senate issue subpoenas “for a limited set of documents that we believe will shed additional light on the administration’s decision-making regarding the delay in security assistance funding to Ukraine and its requests for certain investigations to be announced by the government of Ukraine,” per the letter obtained by Axios.

White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham responded to the list of demands, calling a quote from the letter “laughable.”

“’Let us hope that fairness will prevail’ a laughable quote from @SenSchumer this AM” she tweeted. “After the dems release an ‘impeachment report’ in the middle of the night. Thankfully the people of this country continue to see the partisan sham that this is.”
