2020 Hopeful Eric Swalwell Polled His Followers On Gun Ban & Buy Back, Nearly 80% Oppose

Democratic Congressman Eric Swalwell is running his presidential platform to be vehemently anti-gun, repeatedly expressing that if he were president he would ban assault rifles and would authorize a federal government gun buyback program.

Earlier this week, the congressman took to social media and conducted a poll to see how well his message was resonating with his supporters.

“Hours later, he realized it was actually not a good idea,” the Western Journal reports.

From the report:

Swalwell’s poll asked his followers if they support a program to buy back ‘every weapon of war in America.’

First, weapon buybacks don’t work. Second, there aren’t weapons of war on America’s streets (no person in his right mind would go into battle with an AR-15 over the highly regulated M4 or M16). Third, the ‘weapons of war’ in the hands of law-abiding civilians have only been acquired after extensive government paperwork, background checks, and signatures from chief law enforcement officers in those citizens’ jurisdictions.

Those reasons, however, are not what make the poll ridiculous. What makes it ridiculous is that Swalwell, like the rest of his Democrat buddies, actually thinks that Americans support his wildly unconstitutional interpretation of the Second Amendment.

Swalwell learned first-hand that even his supporters do not support his anti-gun agenda. Check it out: Of the nearly 120,000 people who voted, only 21 percent said they backed the programs Swalwell wished to introduce.

A whopping 79 percent, or 94,000 voters, said they opposed such programs.
