Watch: Chief Patrol Agent Walks Through Detention Facility, Counters Ocasio-Cortez’s Narrative

The United States Customs and Border Patrol are defending their work amid a slew of claims from Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez that they treat migrants abusively and instruct them to drink from toilets.

The New York Democrat made the inflammatory claims after she, alongside other members of Congress, visited detention facilities along the border. Ocasio-Cortez said she spoke with migrant women at these facilities and relayed their claims that they were being treated poorly.

Chief Patrol Agent Roy Villareal at the Tucson Sector defended the work of his facility and others like it against the congresswoman and posted a video tour of his facility.

“My goal today is to dispell some of the misinformation that is out there in regards to our detention facilities,” Villareal said, beginning the video.

In the video, the border agent shows a supply room accompanied with clothing, food, hygiene products, and other supplies readily available for the detainees.

Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter the next day when she challenged its contents and doubled down on her own claims.

“CBP is trying to refute the toilet drinking story by saying their toilets have sinks,” she posted. “The sink in the cell we visited wasn’t functional. Guards told these women,Cuban refugees, they could drink out of the bowl.”

“This account has been corroborated by other members of Congress,” she said without citing any other members.

Responding to the congresswoman, former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino wrote: “Nobody believes you anymore. That’s what happens when you lie so often and so effortlessly.”
