‘Two Can Play That Game’: Trump Goes Directly After Liberals Who Are Protesting Home Depot

President Trump is coming to the defense of Home Depot and its co-founder Bernie Marcus amid Democratic calls to boycott the company.

As Fox Business reports, some liberals called for boycotts of Home Depot after Marcus shared his support for President Trump’s 2020 re-election effort.

Despite Marcus having retired more than 15 years ago and no longer being part of the company, liberals were still out for vengeance.

From the report:

Marcus told the Atlanta Journal-ConstitutionOpens a New Window. in late June that he plans to support Trump in the upcoming presidential election. The 90-year-old was a top donor to Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.

“[Trump’s] got a businessman’s common sense approach to most things,” Marcus said. “…Now, do I agree with every move that he makes? No, I don’t. But the truth is he has produced more than anybody else. He has. If we look at this country, I would say that we are better off today than we were eight years ago or six years ago.”

Following the interview, several shoppers took to social media to say they would boycott Home Depot over Marcus’ support for Trump, causing the hashtag #BoycottHomeDepot to trend. Some vowed to never step foot in the home improvement store and urged others to shop at competing establishments.

President Trump chimed into the controversy, taking to Twitter to express support for Marcus and the Home Depot brand.

“A truly great, patriotic & charitable man, Bernie Marcus, the co-founder of Home Depot who, at the age of 90, is coming under attack by the Radical Left Democrats with one of their often used weapons,” Trump tweeted. “They don’t want people to shop at those GREAT stores because he contributed to your favorite President, me!”

“These people are vicious and totally crazed, but remember, there are far more great people (‘Deplorables’) in this country, than bad,” the president continued. “Do to them what they do to you. Fight for Bernie Marcus and Home Depot!”

The president sent another tweet which ambiguously reminded liberals that “two can play that game.”

“More and more the Radical Left is using Commerce to hurt their ‘Enemy,'” Trump tweeted. “They put out the name of a store, brand or company, and ask their so-called followers not to do business there. They don’t care who gets hurt, but also don’t understand that two can play that game!”
