House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told a group of her supporters that they “have to be ready to throw a punch” to win the 2020 presidential and congressional elections.
The bizarre comment came during Democratic National Committee’s summer meeting, BizPac Review reports.
“For them, it’s about money,” Pelosi said, reportedly speaking about President Trump and the Republican Party. “They’ll put up any amount of money to protect their investments of degrading the environment and the rest. Guns and all that.”
“So you have to be ready to take a punch. You’ve got to be ready to take a punch. And therefore, you have to be ready to throw a punch — for the children!” the House Speaker continued per the report. “Throw a punch for the children.”
“So are we ready to win? Have we decided that we are going to debate our differences, unify behind our candidates?” she asked the crowd. “Are we going to strengthen our majority in the House? To win the United States Senate for the American people?”
“To win the White House for America, for America, for our children, for the future?” Pelosi concluded amid applause from the crowd, BizPac Review reports. “Thank you Democratic National Committee! I know that you will make that happen.”
